Vacation Safety Tips from the Olathe Police Department
As the holiday season approaches, include home safety in your travel plans.  Home burglary prevention begins with making your home an undesirable target.  Most burglars strike a home where they believe no one is present.  The goal is to make your house look occupied while you’re away on vacation.

Olathe Public Library Volunteers Recognized
Last year alone, nearly 400 volunteers spent 10,540 hours serving at the two Olathe library locations, helping to continue providing a great customer experience.  On October 25th, the library is recognizing their dedication by hosting a volunteer dinner from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Parish Hall, 16000 W. 143rd Street.  Youth volunteer certificates and the annual Nancy Quinlisk Chandler Award will be presented.  Volunteer RSVPs will be accepted until October 21, and there are three ways to register.  Library volunteers can call (913) 971-6879, email rpatterson@olatheks.org, or register on-line on the events page at www.olathelibrary.org. Community and Accessible Community Awards Program October 10
The public is invited to the 10th annual Community and Accessible Community Awards Program and Reception Thursday, October 10 in the Commons of Olathe North High School (600 E. Prairie St.).  The event, sponsored by the Olathe Human Relations Commission and the Persons with Disabilities Advisory Board, recognizes individuals and entities for meritorious service in the pursuit of fostering accessible communities, promoting cultural diversity and advocating human rights which benefit all Olatheans.  Continue reading
