Fireworks in Olathe illegal; city fireworks display at Great Mall July 4

Fireworks caused 197 reported fireworks-related injuries in Kansas in 2012, according to the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Some sparklers, a holiday favorite, may burn at temperatures of up to 1800º Fahrenheit, which is as hot as volcano lava.

In an effort to keep people safe, the possession, sale or use of fireworks in Olathe is prohibited.
