Advocating for public safety, education, and a strong local economy, Johnson County public safety professional Anthony Walsh announced his candidacy for City Council, Ward 3 at the Johnson County Election Office. Walsh spoke about his commitment to the Olathe community.

Olathe news briefs for the week of May 1

City Council
The Olathe City Council will meet Tuesday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall for a regular session. Regular sessions are broadcast live on OGN (Comcast channel 7, AT&T channel 99 and on the City’s website).

 

Farmers’ Markets open Saturday, May 6         

The Olathe Farmers’ Markets, located at Black Bob Park (14500 151st St.) and Stagecoach Park (1205 E Kansas City Rd.) open for the 2017 season on Saturday, May 6. The markets open at 7:30 a.m. and run until sold out. Wednesday market returns on May 10. Learn more about the 2017 vendors online. Olathe’s Got Talent finalists set for April 29 show

Twenty finalists have been selected to compete at “Olathe’s Got Talent,” an evening filled with these Olathe students showcasing their various vocal, dance and instrumental talents. When it’s over, more than $5,000 in scholarships will have been awarded to the top performers.

Optimist oratorical winners

The first level of competition on the road to the World Oratorical Championship Contest presented by Optimist International took place at the North Lindenwood Support Center March 22.
