Public invited to help Olathe youth

From 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5, at the Olathe American Legion Building, the public is invited to the 70th Anniversary Party/fundraiser for the Olathe Noon Optimist, which benefits the youth of Olathe. Chapter 2 will be performing songs from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s. Come enjoy the music while helping support the Optimist and Olathe’s youth.

City Council

The Olathe City Council will meet Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall for a regular session. The Olathe City Council will hold a public hearing on the 2017 conditionally approved budget at the Aug. 2 Council meeting. The City of Olathe operates under a two-year budget term, which allows for better long-range planning and enhanced program analysis. The 2017 budget focuses on strategic investments that support the resident priority areas of public safety, transportation, and infrastructure maintenance. Olathe Optimist 70th Anniversary Dance Aug. 5

Dance pub 8516 72Next up for Chapter 2: 70th Anniversary Party for the Olathe Noon Optimist Club from 7-10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5 at the Olathe American Legion Building. The public is invited. Enjoy mingling with old friends, meeting new friends, and shaking a leg on the dance floor while helping the Optimists raise money to help local children.

More closures at I-435, I-35 and K-10

JoCoGateway Traffic Alert 2016-07-15B Starting this weekend, at 10 p.m., Friday, July 15, big changes are coming to westbound 435.

Traffic will be diverted onto the new 435 mainline, adjacent to the eastbpimd lanes between I-35 and K-10. This will be the beginning of the last phase, building the westbound collector-distributor road similar to the one on the south side heading east to I-35. There are several impacts to this change:

·         The ramp from I-35 southbound to 435 westbound will be closed for 5 days as the previous ramp is modified to access the mainline (bypassing the current ramp, which will feed the C-D road). Continue reading
