Thirteen students from the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) were treated to a special Easter Egg Hunt Friday by Olathe Fire Station 7 complements of the Olathe Bomb Squad Friday.

Edgerton OKs amendment for Logistics Park construction to begin

Edgerton City Administrator, along with Council Members, had reason to smile today. The Council Thursday night, March 28, adopted a resolution that insures construction will begin in the BNSF Intermodal Logistics Park by Aug. 1 if not sooner.

With the approval, the city amended its existing project agreement with BNSF and the project’s master developer, The Allen Group, to allow The Allen Group to hand over the duties of master developer for construction and land management of the Logistics Park to Northpoint Development of Kansas City, Mo., which has created a subsidiary called the Edgerton Land Holding Company.

The land that will become the Logistics Park currently is owned by BNSF. Linn said that the land eventually will be owned by the master developer, which is Northpoint subsidiary Edgerton Land Holding Company.

In the last presidential election, the country heard a lot about the distribution of wealth in this country and a lot about the top 1 percent.

This is a YouTube video that was sent to me by friend Brad Schuttler that breaks down the income inequality in America. Based on data from a 2011 Mother Jones post called “It’s the Inequality, Stupid”, the video focuses on the difference between the ideal disparity that Americans would like to see and the reality of the actual disparity.

The gap is a lot larger than many informed Americans realize.

School bond issue will solve some critical issues, including safety

There are six critical and undeniable issues Olathe School Board president Amy Martin knows are facing students, staff and patrons of the Olathe Public Schools:

1. Olathe is going to need a fifth high school;

2. Olathe is going to need a 36th elementary school;

3. Olathe schools need to be made safer;

4. Outdated technology equipment need to be replaced and updated;

5. Many of Olathe’s schools are old and need to be updated; and

6. To accomplish those things, and more, the Olathe Public Schools will need to get the permission of patrons in the form of a $244.8 million bond issue on June 11.
